A friend and I have booked an appointment at Curio salon yesterday for a promotion manicure, pedicure and free waxing for $34.99 and we double checked with the brunette receptionist to make sure and she said yes $34.99 for everything. The next day we come in Janet and Margarita came to cater to us, by far they are the best in exceptional service and such great people personnel! They did a great job for our nails and waxing. When we went out to pay, I believe the store owner a much older woman with lots of make up, was being very inconsiderate and unprofessional in giving us the last experience to our service. We were told by the receptionist misleading information and the store manager did not even try to compromise with our situation. We are young adults but not dumb, we are passing the word around, our experience at Curio was excellent, thanks to Janet and Margarita. But when it comes to satisfying their clients, the store owner really does not know how to please her customers. This is at Curio at Upper Canada Mall and the both of us are extremely upset about this.
My usual hair salon had to cancel last minute, so I walked up and let them know it was last minute and I just needed a trim. I was relieved when they took me in within 10 minutes. I didn’t get a wash, just a very quick blow dry and trim. The man who cut my hair did a good job, same as any other cookie cutter mall salon I have been to. I was there no more then 45 minutes and was shocked when I when to the cash and I had to pay 70 dollars because apparently he wasn’t a regular hair dresser, he was a art director. Which means nothing to me and my 30 min trim. Next time I will take my business elsewhere, maybe to a company that warns me about a 70 dollar trim before I sit in the “art directors” chair.
I hate this place. twice I have gone for a walk-in eye-brow wax and been disappointed. The first time, I got waxed and the technician kept running my raw eye-lid with a dry tissue. It hurt, and I complained and she apologized…but I ended up with a raw red spot on my eyelid for a week.
The next time, I went for a threading instead. The technician did not even tell me told hold my lid, just started working on it (I assume she was dong the top first, until she started.) I realized what she was doing, and stopped her so I could hold my lid, but not before I got a cut.
Both times, I complained to the owner (red-headed older lady) who did not seem to care. The first time, the girl at reception heard me and gave me coupon for 10$ off my service, which was the only reason I gave the place a second try. Never again though.
the one in upper canada mall is awful. very disorganized, very poorly managed, staff was rude, loud and ignorant, and the receptionist, everytime was nowhere near friendly at all. also questions i asked were rarely answered with confidence or any knowledge of products and pricing. In total, the service was not worth returning. also the colour area was filthy and the managers don’t seem to care about what anyone was doing or not doing. ill never go back and i urge others to go not waste their money or time there. oh ya and the stylists are poorly trained, i would prefer “first choice hair cutters”!
terrible expereienc. ripped off. was told serve cost 7 -20 $. at the end was charged 72 $ with no explanation. never go here
I’m very happy with Curio in Upper Canada Mall In the Spa estheticians are so great all of them been working there for years they are professionals and greatest personality.Sorry that i can’t say the same about hair salon.
This salon (one in promenade) is horrible, dirty and rude. I had a bikini wax and the technician (Rachelle) was awful, incompetent, rude. My bikini area is swollen and I think may be infected. I have been waxing for the past 20 years and know when someone is experienced and knows what they are doing. I think my child who is 8 could have done a better job. The place is a total rip off, they almost want to charge you for every hair they remove. I usually just get what is outside of my underwear removed, and I asked for about 2 hairs in the upper thigh near the bikini, and was told that would be extra.
I also spoke to the manager (older woman with red hair). She could not care less, really unacceptable customer service. There are plenty of salons and estheticians out there. I have never had this experience at any other salon or home esthetician in my life . Take your business elsewhere. This place is a health hazard. The only thing I can rate positively is the wait time, you can usually get an appointment immediately because the salon is so quiet, they barely have any customers, and that is for good reason!
