Ruffles salon advertised a great deal on one of the group discount sites.
My most recent experience at Ruffles Salon was the worst experience ever.
Having worked in companies who value great customer service, I was truly dissatisfied with my experience. For instance, I was kicked out of my seat and left standing without anyone checking in with me, not to mention confused. The hairstylist charged extra and had requested to double the charge, half way while doing my hair colour because she claimed my hair was too thick. If she had told me upfront, I would have declined the hair colour treatment. As it turned out, there wasn’t a difference than when I first walked in. At this point, I was already unhappy and just wanted to pay and leave. As I was paying for the service, I was told they do not accept Mastercard. I was intrigued why they didn’t accept mastercard but accepted VISA? Anyhow I had cash on me and the lady at the cash did not provide receipt. There was definitely something not right as $15 does not equate to $20 tax included, however she demanded it was $20. No receipt was given, which made me think that the whole idea was to not declare the revenue.
I would not recommend going to this salon as I was quite disappointed.

My experience was quite different from the previous reviewers. I too got the deal through a group discount site, but I was treated as a regular customer. I knew up front that I would have to pay extra for a full colour, but didn’t mind because the deal was a steal anyways.
My colour came out great and the owner cut my hair and did a very very very nice job. I will be going back to Ruffles.

My haircut is a huge dissapointment, I asked to keep it long but she simply cut too much, constantly looking at the window, rarely on my hair. This stylist wasn’t friendly at all, and the place looks old & dirty. Never again!

I went to Ruffles salon because they had an incredible groupon deal of $15 for pedicure and manicure. The location is very inconvenient as it is off Bathurst which is extremely busy. Since I am used to getting pedicures at places which have a dedicated bath for the feet, I was suprised when I was placed on this chair next to a dirty table full of nail tools while the manicurist filled a small bucket lined with a garbage bag of water and told me to put my feet in. The tools definitely were not sterilized prior to my visit and the entire place was very dirty. The manicurist made no effort to talk to me, and in fact I kept trying to make conversation. She mostly kept talking to all the other employees about gossip and completely ignoring me. To do the pedicure I had to lift my leg up onto this awkward stool so she could paint my toes — I was thinking to myself, what about all the people who aren’t very flexible?! The finished product of my nails and toenails was much lower than what I expect from any salon.

My biggest regret is that I bought 2 deals. I guess I learned something that day — you really get what you pay for!

AWFUL service, inappropriate comments. DO NOT recommend anyone ever go there

The owner wouldn’t honour the terms printed on the voucher, and then lied to the group buying company saying that I redeemed the coupon when I didn’t.

I bought this coupon to get my hair done right before my sister’s wedding. Before buying the coupon, I noticed that the deal closed in late October, but the coupon said it couldn’t be redeemed until Nov 8th. I called them, they said Nov 8th because “that’s when the deal closes and I can’t redeem before the close date”. I explain that it actually closed in late Oct. The response? “Oh, if the deal’s closed, come on in”

So, I book an appointment Oct 29th. The wedding was on the 31st. I get there, and am told that it only covers 4 or 5 highlights. The coupon clearly said “Full set of highlights”. I’m discussing this with the stylist, and the owner waves us over. We go to the front to talk to her, and am told that she doesn’t want us talking about this where customers can hear. Why? Because she “doesn’t want [her] regulars to find out about these deals.”

Wow. So, then she points out that the coupon said not until Nov 8th. I explained that I talked to her on the phone before I bought the coupon. She brushes that off, and then tells me that I’m not redeeming it right because it has to be redeemed with a friend (It was a coupon for 2 cuts). Again, I refer to the voucher, which states that I “could” share this with a friend. It gave me the option. Not a mandatory condition.

So, I tell them I’m just going to go, and get my money back from Buytopia. I go to a different place the morning of the wedding and get my hair done there.

After a few emails back and forth with Buytopia, I’m told that the salon is telling them that I came back and redeemed the coupon on Nov 12th. (!!!!) I called Buytopia, and they tried talking to the salon again. Same story. Happily, Buytopia sided with me, and credited my $ back. 🙂

I bought a voucher for a manicure pedicure from them which turned out to be the worst experience of my life! I walked into the salon and was told to sit a chair off to the side. The manicurist rolled a very old table over to me with her equipment on it. I was brought a basin filled with soapy water with a shopping bag to cover it, and told to put my feet in there! There was no pedicure chair or Jacuzzi for your feet it was disgusting! I asked the lady to shape my nails “rounded and square” instead they are plain round. the ointment put on your nails before the cuticle cleaning came from an old very crusted bottle. the massage lasted less then a minute, and a Vaseline lotion was used instead of a nice high end one! When it came for choosing my polish they had one brand I never even heard of with a very small selection of colors. when asking if they had o.p.i she said no and she had never even heard of essie!!! After my manicure she takes some money from the register and says ill be right back and leaves the salon!!! By the time my pedicure came around she had lost all interest and didn’t even try to file my nails. she just went once over each toe with the file to show she “did it”. there was NO massage at all instead she just rubbed the lotion in. toilet paper was used as a toe separator! They had NO quick dry top coat let alone a dryer machine for your nails. Suffice to say my manicurist did not get a tip and I will NOT be using my second voucher which was already purchased!

Where do I begin? Worst service of my life. I treat my dog better if he misbehaves. I had a voucher for a service, made an appointment for 3 30, and I was driving and couldn’t see the place by around 3 28, so I phoned to politely say I’ll be there any minute. I get in there, asked to sit, wait about ten minutes when the dresser comes and stares at me…I say hello, introduce myself…she gives me a blank look and says “Yeah yeah I need your voucher.” I give it to her and she sits me down and freaks out because my hair is super long. I was informed I’d have to pay 30 to 40 extra for long hair. She tells me it’s gonna be 60, and she informs me her boss is “kinda pissed I’m late.” I tell her I got in at 3 32. She then says I can’t get the mani-pedi part of my deal that day, and tells me the manicurist isn’t in on weekends and she’s sure someone told me beforehand. Nope, they didn’t. She asks what highlights I want, I say thin ones all over. She asks me why because I already have “chunky” ones. I say well those are thin that I have now. She goes on to hold up a piece and keeps repeating that mine are chunky. I say just do them the same size please. She sighs and says “wow, you’re really being…nevermind.” at this point I felt like shit and wanted to leave, but I was nice to this lady because I wanted a decent haircut. She kept yelling at me about sitting up straight and asking why I kept tilting over. The first time I couldn’t hear her because of the dryer and she was angry at this. She put my conditioning treatment in for a couple minutes, ate a snack and said that’ll do. Oh and she made sure to sarcastically point out the difference between a toner and conditioner when I asked her what she was using on my hair. She grumbled and whined as 4 45 approached and kept saying “Aw my coworkers are all leaving!” they close at 5. And why is this my problem? She made sure I felt like a burden. She got our at 5 10 after quickly speed drying my hair (no time for blown out waves…) I payed an extra 60 bucks plus 5 GST after going outside to a bank machine (they won’t accept debit). She looked so angry I didn’t tip. I’ve NEVER not tipped a stylist. Mirella deserved a pink slip and not a tip. Worst hour of my week.

Bad Deal… good haircut. I bought a Buytopia deal for wash, cut, style, FULL highlights or colour. I went with Highlights… was told full head would be extra, so I opted for the half highlights. The cut and colour was fine, but when I tipped the guy I was told that would be 60$. For what??? I wanted to know… apparently the ‘toner’ was not included in my ”Full/half highlights”… Ridiculous… 60$ is what they have listed as their highlight price to begin with. So they charged me for my visit…. I’m asking Buytopia for my money back and I will never go to this salon again. In addition, they don’t take credit card, or debit… so they really enjoyed my extra 60$ tax free tip and didn’t provide a receipt. Government should go after these guys… total crooks.

I’m sorry I didn’t read all these reviews before going today.

I recently purchased a deal from Buytopia and wanted to tell you about my experience. I have purchased many deals and have always been happy with the purchase but this one was different. On February 5th I purchased $29 for a Wash, Cut, Style, Deep Conditioning Treatment, Your Choice of Full Colour or Full Highlights, Blow Dry, Full Manicure and Full Pedicure from Ruffles Hair. I went on last week for my appt and it was the worst experience. My appt was for 1:30 and they didn’t even take me until 2pm. They talked me into low lights for “a few extra dollars.” By the time I got the hair cut portion of the deal, the hairdresser was sick and coughing all over me. He barely said a word to me because he was on his cell phone the whole time and it wasn’t business talk. When he asked me what I wanted he did the complete opposite. I didn’t get out of there till 4:30 and they didn’t even have time to do the manicure and pedicure. I had to ask for a voucher to come back for the manicure and pedicure three times. When it was time to pay I owed another $45!!!!!!!!!!!! for the ‘few extra dollars.’ I am very unhappy with my hair and will paying again to go somewhere else to fix it. They don’t take interac and I had to go to the convenience store ATM and was charged $1.75. I am so easy to please and I never complain but every single person working there was rude.

I had a voucher, so was quiet happy , was told to come back in 3 weeks for my manicure , I will never go back rude people , I had to get my hair fixed after , the cut was unbelievable all different length, I actually cried in the seat , how bad they treat customers I was left for 45 min under a heat , then told to get up by another hairdresser , and left standing in the middle of the floor for 20 min , please dont go here Lisa

I’ve been going to ruffles for years it’s always been a good experience for me the stylists are very polite and always give me the attention I need. I don’t know how you can complane so much over something so little You all got a deal from a group coupon website and are complaining about them not having a jacuzzi foot tub or massage chair I’ve gotten many mani/pedis here and it is alway amazing lasts way longer then when I go to the cheap “nice one nails” around the corner. My hair is always great i am 25 and I get constant compliments on my hair. no matter where you go, including the high end salons on young and yorkville road, they charge you extra when you have longer hair its because they have to use more product. Please don’t take these reviews to seriously because they are not regular customers. Please understand the way salons work b4 you complain about what is general practice at all salons no matter where you go.

This was the WORST experience I have ever had at a salon. I had bought 3 vouchers, one for myself, my sister and my mom for mothers day. For 29$ we got Pedicure, Wash, Cut, Style,Deep Conditioning Treatment, and Your Choice of Full Colour or Full Highlights. Though if you get full highlights, it actually means 5!! and they want to charge extra after that.. They died my sisters hair the complete wrong colour, got dye on her arms, clothes, all down her neck. I understand colour can get else where, but when the hair dresser states he is on MDMA constantly, is all over the place, not paying attention, the end result is HORRIBLE! It is unfortunate because the gentleman who died my hair did an amazing job. As for my mother and sister, they did not have the same experience. The owner was a rude individual to not only us but customers who were waiting with appointments and even her own employees. When they charged my mom the extra 40$ for cutting her thick and long hair, but it was ACTUALLY 45$ with tax because she “forgot” about taxes. The lady asked me to pay and I have shoulder length hair! My hair dresser purposely didnt tell me about the extra charge because he believed it wasnt necessary to charge me. Also when if you do get charged the extra fee, be prepared that you wont get a receipt. This place is the biggest waste of time and money. Dont bother buying any deals for Ruffles Hair Salon through BuyTopia. We didnt even do the manicure or pedicure which was included in our coupon because it was one lady doing everyone, her desk was gross and dirty looking, she was also rude and grouchy and her pedicure bath was a bucket with a GARBAGE bag inside of it! Never again will I go or recommend people going there.

I am very sad I did not read the reviews on this “Spa” – I experienced the worst experience ever. I bought the voucher through Groupons for haircut, highlights/routs, mani/pedi for $34 as a special treat for myself on a Mother’s Day. I wish I never go there. First, I called to make an appointment and was told that the mani/pedi person is booked for two months in advances, which turned out was not truth – she was available while I was there. I was told that an additional voucher would be provided for this service. Second, when I came for my time, I was waiting for ONE hour to get my turn. When it comes to payment I paid $40 more (no receipt was provided) and the owner never gave me the voucher for mani/pedi, which I would not use anyway because service was not good and the hairdressers (I was served by 3 different persons!) were just talking and not doing the good job. My hair cut was criticized, but I got even worst haircut in the end. Not worth to go there. Be careful of those tricky deals especially for the places you did not visit before!

Gave 13 tip (was going to give 25) but bothered by up charge, not told before service.

    Not worth it
Ended up paying same as my own clean, classy place

Thanks for all these reviews. To the 25 year old regular customer, I say I think you are probably getting the good service because you are regular. I have a coupon as well and planned to go tomorrow afternoon. Think I am changing my mind. At the complete price all the things offered don’t sound worth $420.00 I have no expectations of adding money other than a tip to money already paid for. There are definitely too many bad reviews to be ignored. Wish I had know about the review section before buying thses coupons.

I also had a very bad experience with these people and I never even set foot in their salon. I bought a voucher from Dealfind for $34 for haircut, highlights, manicure and pedicure. When I phoned to make an appointment, the woman who answered the phone hung up on me in the middle of the conversation saying they were very busy. When I phoned back, she hung up on me again in the middle of the conversation. When I phoned back the third time, I could hear the woman who hung up on me the first two times telling the person who answered the phone the third time to hang up the phone. I want nothing to do with these people and I am the process of getting a refund from Dealfind. I also wish that i had read these reviews before purchasing this deal.

I was dissatisfied enough with the service at Ruffles to go online and post a review. I tried to explain what I wanted but my hair dresser seemed to think that I never had a hair cut before and that she knew better. Before I could even explain what I wanted completely, she already proceeded to cut my hair. While cutting the hair she was conversing with other people and did not seem to pay much attention to what she was doing. Needless to say the haircut was far from what I wanted… Awful place to get your haircut.

Yesterday my mom and I went to Ruffles with a voucher from living social. We got highlights (my mom also got root colouring), a mani, pedi, wash, cut, hot oil treatment, eyebrow/upper lip waxing and styling. We both left very happy with the results. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. We got there half an hour early and upon our arrival they offered us coffee and took us in right away. The owner suggested very good tips for our hair. Of course it cost a few extra dollars but it wasn’t a money grab in our opinion because we were really happy and impressed with the suggestions. When it came to the mani/pedi it may not have been what most people are used to (yes, it is a tub lined with a garbage bag full of soapy water) but it was good; no complaints. The only thing is, you may want to bring your own colours. Waxing was great. The owner cut my hair and did exactly what I asked for. I asked for a very short trim just to get rid of split ends and she did exactly that and styled it very well also. My mother’s hair was done by one of the men and she was also extremely happy with her results. All in all it was a great experience for a great price!

Me and my friend bought a voucher from Buytopia for a cut, style, and full highlights… I did not bother to read the reviews and decided to go in to see it myself… my hair is considered ‘long’ though I would say its medium length… Anyway, I paid an extra $58 dollars because of the length of my hair, as well as because I got a full colour before the high lights… Ernesto was my hair dresser and I think he did a fabulous job! I showed him 2 pictures of what I wanted and he did exactly that! They took us in right away, looked at my hair, quoted me the price after telling him what I wanted, and he stuck to it. He was very polite, had really good conversation, and seemed to enjoy doing my hair for me. At the end of it all, I had a great cut, great colour, and was able to change “full highlights” to peek-a-boos instead, which I think was very accommodating. I look forward to coming here to get my hair done.

Just tried calling 3X to book my Living Social voucher manicure Pedicure, Eyebrow and Upper Lip Waxing, Shampoo,Haircut, Root Coloring or Partial Highlights, Hot Oil Treatment, Blow Dry, and Style}, the owner IDA was very abrupt and borderline rude on the phone. I told her I was looking to book my full package in one appointment date during the latter part of the 3rd week of August. She said that manicurist was away and they need to back-fill her appointments first so I would have to A) make a second appointment for the manicure pedicure or B} if I wanted to get all my services done in one appointment, the earliest appt would be towards the end of August which is the following week after of when I had originally inquired for??!#@$%!!}. When I asked her for the manicurist’s first available at the end of the month so I could come in one time for all my services, she abruptly remarked …so you would actually have time to spend at least 4-hrs at our salon in one day??’ After hearing this shocking remark come from the owner, I actually proceeded to ask her for the date & time availabilities. This seemed to piss her off, stating she was not the receptionist and had a client waiting in the chair. Further, she told me that when I know what I want and when, that is when I should call back. I firmly told her I was not calling back, it was not my concern that she was not the receptionist and that she was understaffed, and that as a new customer, I should get better service, starting with telling me the availabilities. She gave me a date and time that seemed to be OK for me, took my name but no phone number….I don’t think I’ll be making it for the appt, though, after reading all the horrible reviews that clearly paint the same picture. I don’t think want to take the chance with my hair, especially because I have super-long thick hair and be charged extra -which I had informed her and had tried to get a ball-park estimate of the additional charges-she again was abrupt saying I can’t tell you something that I don’t know until I see your hair length, health and amount, which again, was quite clearly described to her but she still could not give me a rough maximum estimate of ?!@#$%@!?!!
I feel for all the other people who had a terrible experience @ Ruffles. I sincerely thank you for posting your reviews and saving me from their; Ida’s hell!
Definitely staying far away and asking LivingSocial for my refund.
End note to IDA/RUFFLES give receipts, make major improvements to your customer service, hire a student to act as the receptionist…basically get your business in order before promoting it on discount sites to garner new clients! In the meantime, you’ve done a Great job of making a$$*s out of yourselves and losing any possible new business that was drummed up from the discount sites. Lesson learned??

I wish I read these reviews before I purchased my buytopia voucher. I did not have a good experience, either. They charge an arm and leg for long hair. An extra $15 for the haircut, or $45 for the colour. Also, I can tell they use very cheap hair dye. My scalp was burning during the coloring process and a few days later my scalp had bumps. worst salon experience ever! I will never go back!

I just came back from Ruffles with a shocking experience. I can’t remember being treated like this ever in my life. I came for my appointment and was told in an unpleasant manner that my appointment is canceled due to illness of the staff. Then I asked if I can get my money back for the voucher which I bought, the owner of the company Francesca became very irritated and rude, and made me even more unhappy. She canceled my rescheduled appointment and said that I can’t come to this place at all anymore. At that time there was another hairstylist who could do my hair but he told that he is sick too. I\ve never had this kind of poor service before in my life. And trust me I am a very patient person and I understand that I bought a cheap voucher but couldn’t expect such cheap service. The sad part about this story is that this is my second visit to this place. I have been there with my daughter before and we closed our eyes on many things that we didn’t like but at the end I was happy with color and haircut. At that time we stayed in this place for almost 4 hours, first for my scheduled appointment the wait time was 50 min, then after coloring I went through all of the magazines in the salon and my hair became dry before the cut and styling. We didn’t get pedicure and manicure this day, nobody told us about it, and we had to book another appointment. My daughter said that she didn’t like this place and will not come back again. I am a more patience person, and could handle the wait time and other little things but what I faced today was too much. If you are ready to experience something like this go to Ruffles but be ready for many unpleasant surprises. I already sent my request for a refund to Dealfind and can only hope to get my money back.

I went to Ruffles after purchasing a coupon for cut, style, full colour or highlight, with $10 additional for mani/pedi from Buytopia. Everything that the comments above stated are true. The owner was rude. Told me that the manicurist was fully booked for 3 weeks (which I didn’t see anybody working on mani/pedi for the whole afternoon), and I had to make another appointment to come back for it. Then I asked for a reddish tint on my hair, and IDA the owner insisted she could only use dark brown on my hair, ignoring what I wanted. (I had no such problem with other hair salon). I didn’t want to argue because there were other customers there. I sat there for half an hour waiting for my haircut, and everybody ignored me, not that everybody was busy. I was charged $5 tax which accounts to 20% of my initial coupon, of course, no receipt. After seeing the dirty mani equipment table, I wouldn’t go back for my mani/ped., not worth the $10 that I paid for it.

Bought a coupon off livingdeal…. showed up.. everyone was polite enough.. the place is dirty…old wall paint, didnt look very nice nonetheless. was offered coffee and so were my 2 friends that accompanied me…waited like 30 minutes… after being on time…gave the lady at the desk the coupon and she told me to hold on until i spoke to my hairdresser i would be assigned..he told me it would be an extra $60 to get highlights since my hair was so long.. (he used just bleach)… why did i even buy the coupon when the extra fee was 3x the price i paid for the actual deal..(alltogether cost was about $100) … if i wanted to pay $100 i would have gone to first choice for the same shit and paid less than that…
anyways.. ii had Antonio… he was polite, very active and loud…but he was nice enough.. and paid very good attention to me…i had a black friend with me.. and he kept calling him “brotha”.. not cool -_- … he was nice enough though but the place is dirty..will not be going back there.. too expensive for what u get and its dirty.

I had the worst experience ever with this salon! I do not recommend anyone ever go ever! The first time I made an appointment (I had a LivingSocial deal) I came for it to find out that they made a mistake in their scheduling and had not time for me that night! That ruined my night because I had a party to go to and needed a haircut, mani and pedi. They also had no hot water at that time. I was left standing at the reception desk without anyone attending to me to only be told after that I had to come in on a different day. When I came in for the next time, I waited for an hour although I arrived on time. As I sat watching, I saw food and drinks of hairdressers’ tables, they ate in front of their clients and then handled their hair without washing their hands. They crack jokes about rubbing boobs, smoking joints and getting arrested. They have an extremely UNPROFESSIONAL attitude! They have NO REGARD for their clients! As if they are doing their clients a favour. My hairdresser did an absolute opposite of what I asked! I asked for no layers – he gave me layers, chopped off as if done by a child. My cut is TERRIBLE! I am DEVASTATED! I would never go their again! AS for other patrons, they requires I pay $10 tax in cash as, supposedly, their debit machine was down. I still do not know how my voucher value adds up to 10$ tax. They had no intention on apologizing or asking me when I wanted to come in for mani-pedi (part of my deal) I had no cash to pay but was not allowed to pay tax next time I came in. Absolutely disgusted with this place! Never going there again!!!

I went there having purchased a voucher. However, upon arrival they told me I have to pay $50 extra for my hair because its too long. My hair is right at shoulder length so I couldnt believe they wanted to charge me so much for hair that I considered short! THIS IS A SCAM, THEY SELL GROUPONS AND THEN RACK ON 50 BUCKS BY SAYING YOUR HAIR IS TOO LONG.
I tried to reason with them and say I no longer wanted a cut/shampp, but I just need the color….but the owner was VERY VERY RUDE AND NOT FLEXIBLE AT ALL. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF MY LIFE!

To make things worse it was my birthady and I had to go out a few hours later…so I pretty much begged her to do something and explained that I was a student and couldnt afford to pay $50 extra (thats the reason i got the voucher in the first place). THE OWNER WAS VERY UNREASONABLE, UNPLEASANT, AND OUTRIGHT RUDE! IT WAS A DISGRACE TO THE SERVICE INDUSTRY THAT SHE WOULD TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT.

Now not only was the service HORRIFIC, but the man who was meant to be doing my hair had NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS DOING. I asked him for the color chart and wanted an opinion on what color I should dye my hair, but he could not even distinguish reds from browns. HE WAS AN OLD MAN THAT SEEMED COLOR BLIND! GOOD THING I DIDNT END UP STAYING BECAUSE I AM SURE THEY WOULD HAVE SCREWED UP MY HAIR.

Clearly ruffles is scamming with these ‘deals’

i.e. come back in 3 weeks, charging extra when the deals include ‘full highlights’ …

all you gals who took the time to post reviews – THANK YOU, i was just thinking of buying one from buytopia, AND recommending to my bf’s sisters. that would’ve been no fun not to mention embarassing

Horrible experience..horrible unprofessional people…DO NOT GET THE DEAL FROM buytopia you are honestly better off going to first choice haircutters.

Thank you so much for posting your experiences. I was going to buy a couple of these coupons to have a day out with my sisters and now there is no way I am even going to bother. Thank you ladies and I am so sorry about the horrific customer service. Ruffles should be ashamed of themselves.

Buytopia has a deal today for this hair salon. I just called this place to get some idea of what the extra cost would be for coarse hair as it say on the offer that there would be an extra charge. I got the owner on the phone and she was so rude! She said she has to see the hair first. I told her I just wanted to get some kind of range, was I looking at $5 extra dollars, $20 extra dollars? She yelled at me on the phone and told me she couldn’t give me a range and that she’d have to see the hair! This didn’t make any sense to me so I tried to get clairfication because either you have course hair or not and it should be made clear what will be the extra cost, she didn’t even let me finish and she hung up on me. I called back and asked her why she hung up on me, and she hung up on me again. I called back a third time and a man answered and I told him what happened and that that was no way to treat potential new customers. And I tried to get a staight answer from him, he also told me he couldn’t say how much more it would be. This all seems fishy to me! There is somthing not right here. And after ready these other reviews, it makes it clear! They are duping people! These people also seem like the type of business that puts up one of these deals and then has disdane for anyone that buys them! Stay away, I am!

I bought coupon for Ruffles Hair from Groupon and asked for a refund after I read all of these comments. I received my refund promptly. Sad thing about this is that many Dealfind customers have had bad experiences with this Salon and I am sure many have contacted Dealfind yet if you check the Dealfind website today they are selling Ruffle Hair packages again. I am not sure Dealfind cares about what their customers have to say. By the way Dealfind previously had a feedback section on their site where people could ask questions and talk about these DEAL and they have discontinued it. They were upset because they were advertising / selling Time Share packages and claimed that it was not Time Share. Remember if it sounds too good to be TRUE then it is NOT TRUE.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to review. I was about to purchase a deal on Dealfind, but because of all the negative reviews I will be going elsewhere. Some of these sites should have the discuss the deal feature so that people can review the product.
Thanks again and god help anyone who purchased those vouchers.

Worst place evr!,,, they are rude. I bought a deal from deal find for my mom and me called and made an appointment i brought my kids with me when I got there they told my kids off even though there sitting down they told me I have to wait 3 hours and kept saying my kids are going to give hard time. They kept insisting I come next time. They couldnt even apologize. And kept complaining about my kids.. My kids wasn’t even doing anything and we just came in. There was no hello. All they said was “you have to come next time because ur kids will be waiting 3 hrs.”
Deal find shouldn’t be selling deals from those kind of business.

I went to Ruffles upon purchasing a voucher and was so pleased with the cut and colour that I have since gone back. I always get exactly what I wanted when I went there.

I can understand why so many people have complained about the service but I have seen first hand what people with the vouchers have tried to argue about. While I was there 2 women with waist long hair came in and fought with the owner and stylist about paying more for their long hair even though IT WAS PRINTED ON THE VOUCHER that long hair is extra. Do people not realize that more product and time is required for long hair? I have long hair and everywhere I go charges me a little extra so I have no idea why so many people are so cheap. If you are pleasant and read the fine print on your vouchers there is no reason you can’t have a pleasant experience there.

My experience with them was horrible, and I didn’t even make it into the salon yet. I had called in regards to a deal on a deal website and was asking a few questions. I felt rushed on the phone cause she kept telling me ok dear? Ok bye bye and then I kept trying to finish my questions. Then I told her I wanted to make an apt this Saturday which she told me she disnt have anything till a couple weeks and then I said I really needed to get in this week so i didnt want to purchase a voucher if i couldnt and she was like, yeah no sorry , ok? And hung up on me. Horrible customer service. I won’t ever go there if I don’t feel welcome over the phone

Took my daughter in to get Buytopia deal and all the things previously mentioned are absolutely true…and I’ve worked at salon’s…Hf Lords, Lattitudes and other salons…this place is a ‘hole in the wall’ place with many all of the complaints are absolutely dead on…sat my daughter down and had the stylist ‘tell’ her what kind of highlights he would give her….we wanted thin fine ones and he wanted to do ‘chunky’ (less work) the obvious argument happened…then he says…it will be $35 extra cause she has thick hair..lol I said..the voucher doesn’t say that you can do that.. (they hadn’t seen it yet so as to know what reason they could use charge more)…then he says…I’ve only been herfor 4 months and I don’t know anything about these deals…. Gee., that’s funny..cause you knew what to say to charge more… I have never ever seen more money charged for CUTTING thick hair…lol
He calls the owner over and after I showed the Buytopia voucher she runs her hands through my daughters hair and says the charge is NOW for coarse hair…lol. Gotta love professional scammers. This is a business that sells vouchers onamost every deal site for low$ and then makes it impossible for you to not pay more so they actually have made a business of bucking the deal sites.. You have ‘coarse’ hair if you have any hair process done in the past and you don’t have unprocessed hair(virgin hair).. If you have grey hairs…that counts too…lol. They are then making a good profit on these deals…NOT acquiring new customers but many ripped off customers they wouldn’t see anyways, in their minds. The owner walked out of the store while I was politely refuting the extra cost…. Multiple calls were made to book only to have all the same issues mentioned above… I think they are splitting up the services so people will pay for the extra fees thinking they have to come back still… Or they hope people won’t come back for the manicurist thus meaning it makes them even more money..less work. If the are using grocery bags…what was carried in the bag before it was reused? Meat maybe? Eeeww…gross, dirty, unsanitary…I did not see hide nor hair of a disinfecting machine…hope you’ve had your blood tested since..:)

    I have asked Buytopia for a refund…let’s see what happens…they didn’t reply for 4 weeks now…

I actually purchased 8 blow-outs for this salon from a deal site. The up-charge for my long hair was $25 and in the end was not even a deal for me. Plus the salon is old, dirty and disgusting. The station I was put at was dirty and the hair from the previous client was not even cleaned. The combs and brushes used on my hair were dirty and disgusting. I was itchy all day and felt dirty. They did not have a towel big enough to cover my hair also there was no cape put on me.
I was so not impressed. I have 7 more blow-outs and not sure I will even use them.

I bought a voucher for FULL set of highlights, mani &pedi and hair cut. I went to ruffles and was met up by Ernie who looked at my hair and said it would be extra for my long hair. I asked him how much extra and was quoted 30 dollars! I immediately asked if i could do a half head of highlights so i would have to pay anything extra. HE SAID IT WOULD BE THE SAME PRICE REGARDLESS OF FULL HEAD OR HALF HEAD OF HIGHLIGHTS. that makes NO sense.
SO, i figured why not let me do the full head. Then the manager kept looking at ernie angrily and i asked him why is he looking over here so much. He whipered to me that it was because ernie was giving me a full set of highlights .. ( WHICH IS WHAT THE VOUCHER SAYS ANYWAYS). I paid the 30 dollars and no tip because i thought it was ridiculous how they try to get your money and dont honor the voucher.

DONT ADVERTISE A DEAL IF YOU CANT DELIVER. I know it was a great deal but dont lie to your clients and treat them like crap. DONT NOT GO TO THIS PLACE MUCH LESS BUY A VOUCHER. NOT WORTH IT.

The manager of the place kept looking at him angrily and I asked why he

My Husband bought me a hair package deal with a group site with Ruffles hair design. It was a $25 dollar package for $250 worth of service, wow. sounds too good to be true? well it was. Upon my arrival, i was asked to wait. After 40 minutes ( from my appointment time) a male hair dresser looked at me and said that due to my hair being 3″ longer than shoulder length, I am to pay $35 more + Tax. Also, Toner was not included and that would be extra.
I was somewhat surprised and the manager refused to speak to me about it. I also noticed the hairdresser started cutting another person’s hair. I asked him how long is that going to take, he said another 35 min. So after waiting for 40 min, then being told I have to pay additional $50 and additional wait, I couldn’t take it anymore. I just left. I found the whole experience disgusting. This is exactly what I was afraid will happen. a classic bait and switch tactic.

I will not ever visit Ruffles hair design nor will I recommend it to anyone I know. Avoid it like a plague.

I had gotten a voucher for Ruffles Salon and got a lady Mary do did my hair for me. She was not only very professional but i enjoyed my time and conversation with her. HOWEVER, the owner and other employees were quite rude and the place was very dirty and disorganized. Even though the salon itself is not up to my standards, Mary is a great hair stylist and would recommend her to anyone.

I bought this deal and got the appointment after lot of struggle with this lady on the phone. Firstly this lady (may be she is in her 50’s) can’t hear what I am asking and or saying. After I got the appointment for Saturday I called up 3 days prior to confirm and they said my appointment is on Sunday 12 PM I was kind of confused because I was sure I asked for Saturday appointment. Then I called a day before to find if I can get a lady stylist and again this lady in her 50’s spoke so rude to me and hang-up the phone saying there isn’t any lady stylish. I was like HEEELLLLLLLOOO HEELLLLLOOOO!!!
Next day I went there and was shocked to know she cancelled my appointment assuming that I wanted lady stylish only and haven’t even informed me. I drove all the way from Pickering to bathrust that day I was so pissed but I spoke to her in nice way all the time and told her how disappointed I am. I could still see my name on the register but she simply said she cancelled me.
RUDE! Not sure why this salon is still soooo busy!!!!!! Bad customer Service!

As a careful consumer, before purchasing my voucher from Buytopia, I called Ruffles and spoke to the owner Ida and explained that I was there 1X before with another voucher. I asked if it is for first-time customers only. She said I could definitely buy another voucher and use it. I then made the appointment and again mentioned to Ida that I had been there about a year ago and that I had purchased another voucher and wanted an appointment. She said that was fine and made the appointment.

Upon arrival I was kept waiting and then she told me to speak to the stylist. She didn’t have the guts to tell me, as a repeat customer, I couldn’t use my coupon. I presented my coupon to the stylist and he said that since I had been there before, I would have to pay 1/2 the regular price or $50.00 extra for my service. (I have very short hair).

I refused to pay extra and spoke with Ida who was very rude to me. She said she didn’t remember telling me in advance that I could use a coupon. I asked her why she didn’t tell me this on the phone when I made the appointment. She had no answer except to say that she wants repeat customers and not just people looking for a deal.

I truly believe that she will say anything to get you in her dirty salon, and then while you are there knowing fully that you need her service, springs it on you that she doesn’t remember telling you that it was ok to use another voucher. She is a true liar.

I left and got a full refund from Buytopia. Don’t waste your valuable time with Ruffles.

I have to agree with some of the less favorable comments made above I live in the neighborhood and thought I’d try them out, my first impression was that the Stylist that I had was very angry, she said very little and looked upset. So I thought – no big deal she could have been having a bad day – she wasn’t rude so – forgivable. Today I called to make an appointment and the lady on the phone too was very angry she picked up the line and snapped into the phone “HOLD A MINUTE” then put the call on hold. Which is no big deal people put you on hold all the time. But the way she snapped was unnecessary and very unwelcoming, people go to the salon to look and feel great – but it seems the staff at ruffles aren’t happy, and are sharing it.

I bought a voucher from Promo Solutionz for a SPA Package at Ruffles. I booked an appointment for a mani/pedi but as I came in the owner told me to wait for 20-30 mins bcoz the lady is still attending a client. I said ok, but she said to me as well, to rebook my appointment next time so I don’t need to wait. I said I’ll wait. I ended up doing a pedi only for it was getting late. I find the place DIRTY, my feet was soaked in a basin wrapped with garbage bag. then, BOOm, my pedi was done in 30 mins including the drying. I think I can clean my nail;s better than this lady. Then, I booked another appointment for my nails the following week. Showed up at the door, with my son, and find out that the lady wasn’t there. She was off for a week. RUDE people, not accomodating. THE OWNER IS ALSO A LIAR!!! She said she’s not the receptionist, she’s a hairdresser but when ask if I can speak to the owner; she said, she’s the owner. AWEFUL!! I do not reccomend this salon to anyone.

I appreciate all the feedback about this salon. This is the second time I came across a Dealfind voucher for this salon. I don’t understand why the company would allow it to go up again, if there was so much negative experiences and refunds. I work in sales myself, and understand there are quotas to be made as an account manager, but do it with integrity and not sleazy. Thanks!

ALL: Thank you VERY much for all your comments! So glad that I have looked it through BEFORE buying the voucher from the dealfind. Btw, they made change to the terms and conditions in their latest publishing: Additional charges may apply for THICKER (LOL) and/or hair longer than the bra strap (so precise! what if someone’s neck is longer then the other’s? ;)).

I would NEVER go back to ruffles. I too purchased the 29 dollar voucher, yet had to pay an extra 60 dollars for my hair. The manicure and pedicure that came with the deal was not available the day I was there, although this was not explained to me when I booked the appointment. They were busy when I was there, and “my” hairdresser kept leaving to do other peoples hair. I was there for a total of 4 HOURS!!! It has never taken me so long to have my hair done in my life, although half the time I was sitting there waiting to be acknowledged. The worst part of it all, the hairdresser was extremely creepy.. I felt very uncomfortable having him do my hair while making inappropriate comments. All the owner seemed concerned about was not getting a bad review (she asked me not to write one on several occasions, a testament to the lousy service).. well, here it is! The truth. Not recommended.
